Anthony Weiner, a former United States representative, is being investigated following reports that he sent sexual text messages with a 15-year-old girl. Weiner apologized for his alleged actions, but said that he may be the victim of a hoax. He is known for sending and participating in sexual and explicit exchanges with multiple women online, which ultimately led to his wife separating from him.

Calhoun believes that integrity is a social virtue. According to him, having integrity means that you stand for something, not by something. Standing for something requires intent and action. It also means that when you answer the questions, “what is worth doing? and “what do I need to do in order to be right?,  for yourself, as well as for everyone else, that you are standing for something. It is figuring out the truth about what is right and wrong for everyone. Therefore, a person with integrity treats his or her own endorsements or moral beliefs as ones that matter, or ought to matter, to everyone.

The above case involving Weiner is an instance involving a lack of integrity. A person with integrity would believe that adults should not participate in sexual activities with a minor. This moral believe ought to matter to everyone. This act is also legally wrong, which is why Weiner is currently being investigated. Weiner violated this moral belief and the law which means that he lacks integrity.
